Langtree Group plc is to speculatively build the development as part of its partnership with Knowsley MBC, with the scheme set to comprise 9,017 sq m (97,070 sq ft) of industrial accommodation on an extensive 25-acre (10.12-hectare) site fronting the A580 East Lancashire Road.

Alchemy has been funded through a £2.1 million contribution from the Merseyside Objective One Programme, with a further £1.3 million from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), as Paul Lakin, NWDA’s Head of Development, explains: “We are proud to be involved in this scheme which we believe will contribute to Knowsley’s thriving enterprise culture and provide local businesses with the opportunity to be part of a high quality business location.”

Added Stephen Barnes, North West Regional Director at Langtree: “Knowsley boasts the fastest business growth in Merseyside and this scheme will respond to the demands of local businesses. We are confident that the scheme will attract a whole range of local occupiers whilst the larger site will be attractive to businesses across the region.” 

The scheme will feature six blocks, offering ten units on a stand-alone or semi-detached basis and accommodation will be available from 629 sq m (6,754 sq ft) up to 1,974 sq m (21,254 sq ft).

Cllr Graham Morgan, Knowsley's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Neighborhoods said: "This is yet another great piece of business news for the Borough, and Alchemy will provide many new jobs for the area. The opening of the site has been made possible by Knowsley Council building a junction off the A580 and providing access for many new businesses from across the region."
